» Whitney: The Hills is self-imploding

Whitney Port has claimed that the cast of The Hills are “self-imploding” during the show’s final series.

The former cast member has insisted that she is in “shock” over the drama in the current season, in which Heidi Montag’s husband Spencer Pratt bursts into a rage in almost every episode.

The 25-year-old told Radar Online: “I feel like they’re all self-imploding or something. I’m just in shock. I don’t know how it got so out of control.

“I think they’re just going crazy. I don’t want to say so much because I feel like they’re going to attack me.”

The Hills airs at 10pm and The City airs at 10.30pm, Tuesdays on MTV in the US.

» MTV star Olivia Palermo films for The City in Japan

MTV star Olivia Palermo films for The City in Japan.

A film crew trailed the New York socialite as she visited Tokyo’s fashion hot-spots including the brand new Ao Building in Omotesando.

The 24-year-old fashionista spoke to the Japanese crowd through a translator as she appeared as guest of honour at the launch of the Tibi ‘Napoleon and Josephine’ collection.

“It plays on opposites like masculine and feminine,” Olivia said of the line.

She was joined on stage by Tibi designer and founder Amy Smilovic.

After the show the New York socialite posed for pictures and signed autographs for her Japanese fans as she hit the shops and boutiques in Tokyo’s trendy Omotesando.

The City is a big hit in Japan where it is shown on satellite and cable television.

‘She was really surprised by all the attention,’ said an onlooker.

‘Lots of Japanese girls recognised her straight away and they weren’t shy about approaching her for autographs.’

“Olivia was really nice and spent a lot of time meeting everybody – and it was all caught on camera for her show.

One person who might be a little jealous of her trip to the Far East will by Palermo’s nemesis, Whitney Port, who was nowhere to be seen.

» Whitney Port Prepares to ‘Destroy’ Olivia on The City

Thanks to Elle magazine, Whitney Port was selected as one of three designers featured on fashion Web site ruelala.com. The City star assumed that her former coworker Olivia Palermo, who works for the fashion mag, put her up for the honor.

Wrong!

In fact, Olivia is not supporting the line that Whitney showed at Fashion Week and failed to show up at the photo shoot for the Web site. So, on Tuesday’s episode of The City, Whitney has to confront Olivia.

“I’m really unsure of what to do right now,” Whitney says.

Good thing her mentor Kelly Cutrone has an idea of how to handle the situation. “You need to … take this b—– out,” she says. “You need to go to her and you need to say, ‘Listen, I will destroy you.’ “

» ‘The City’: Six great moments in ‘Professionally Dangerous’

I’m in a very good mood after a very traumatic event. My DVR cut off “The City” just as Whitney Port was sitting down to tell Olivia Palermo off. That’s really what the entire episode was leading up to, and I couldn’t believe the show ran over and my DVR cut it off.

If it happened to me, I’m sure it happened to many of you. Thankfully, I was able to purchase the episode, called “Professionally Dangerous,” on iTunes. Also, the full episode should be posted soon to MTV.com.

So, crisis averted, and now that I’ve been able to see the last scene of this week’s show, I have a big smile on my face. This was a near-perfect episode, no?

1) Kelly Cutrone’s “shark under a glass bottom boat” speech: Kelly is never better than when her emotions are running high. After she heard that Olivia had not supported Whitney’s line, Kelly delivered the most awesome description of how dead Olivia was going to be after Kelly got her hands on her. The image of Kelly as a shark underneath Olivia sitting in a glass-bottom boat will stay with me for a very long time.

2) Roxy Olin’s outfit for her “business meeting” with photographer Zach Herman: I love that Roxy made sure to stress to Whitney that she considered her meeting with Zach a very important “business meeting.” Her transparent top over a black bra told a totally different story. Roxy sure knows how to close a deal. Wink.

3) Zach’s statement on friends and New York City winters: I remember winter in New York City. Unlike other Southern California transplants I knew in New York, I thrived during the winter. The snow and the brisk wind were always so novel to mem no matter how many I experienced. Zach was absolutely right when he said the people you’d brave the harsh winter cold to meet with had to be special. Roxy wasn’t the only person charmed by that statement.

4) Joe Zee blasts Olivia: For those of us who were frustrated last season by Joe’s apparent blindness to Olivia’s faults, we can now rest easy. Joe didn’t pull any punches as he dressed down Olivia for not showing up to interview Whitney. How great did it feel to watch her squirm in her seat as he shot down every excuse she threw his way? In next week’s episode, it looks like he may go back to supporting Olivia’s “good taste” in accessories. At least we’ll always have this scene to remind us that Joe has no qualms with giving Olivia well-deserved hell.

5) Erin Kaplan kills Olivia’s Elle.com interview: It’s one thing that Olivia unilaterally decided she wasn’t covering Whitney’s line for Elle.com, but she took it to a whole other level when she decided to promote another friend’s jewelry line instead. Let’s face it, Erin is the catalyst for Olivia’s downfall this season so far. For that, I applaud her. So when she took a look at the interview Olivia chose to do instead of Whitney’s and found it to be a giggly fluff piece, she killed it. It’s all in a day’s work for Erin. Kudos.

6) Whitney tells Olivia off: I still can’t wipe the smile off my face. Olivia tried to apologize and quickly move on to small talk, but Whitney stayed right on top of her. Why would Olivia mention she’s looking for talented young designers, knowing that she excludes Whitney from that list? Dumb move. I loved watching Olivia squirm and try to squash the conversation with her typical “I won’t engage in this discussion” statement. Whitney has shown that she has a problem with conflict and typically lets things slide, especially with Olivia. When Whitney started calling her out on her excuses and ignored Olivia’s apparent discomfort, it was like watching a different person. It seemed like Olivia didn’t want to have the conversation on camera, but Whitney didn’t care. By the time Olivia walked out in protest, Whitney had said her piece. I couldn’t be more proud of her.

What were your favorite moments of this week’s episode?
